PhotoTarget™ Fundus System

RetinaPharma uses an internally developed, potentially inexpensive, imaging and treatment station to view and generate the requisite photonic energy to view and treat the eye. The PhotoTarget station is an integrated digital fundus camera capable of real-time viewing of the retina and contains the source of specific wavelengths of light necessary for Light-Targeted Delivery (LTD) of drugs. The light is delivered to its target in precise time sequences as required for fluorescence visualization, drug release and drug excitation. The PhotoTarget station includes four (4) sources of light energy; an infrared diode laser to cause gentle warming of the liposomes, one red-emitting diode laser for excitation of a photo-reactive drug (photodynamic therapy, PDT) and two different wavelength LED sources (blue and green), one to cause fluorescence of the released dye and one for general visual illumination. A high-resolution, high-gain video camera captures real-time video images of the retina under treatment providing both diagnostic detail and documentary evidence of treatment. The Company has developed a station suitable for preclinical and Phase I/II clinical trials.
