Carlos F. Santos, Ph.D.
President and Chief Executive Officer

Carlos Santos is our Chief Executive Officer. He received a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from the University of Michigan in 2008. Since 1998, Dr. Santos has focused on pharmaceutical product development, intellectual property design, and regulatory strategy and planning activities for Hopkins Capital Group and its portfolio companies, Accentia Biopharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:ABPI) and Biodelivery Sciences International (NASDAQ:BDSI). At the University of Michigan, he developed automated natural language processing systems to integrate high-throughput genomic experimental data with known protein interaction pathways in metastatic prostate cancer progression. He also leads the development of an large-scale automated search and summarization engines for biomedical documents at the University of Michigan's National Center for Integrative Biomedical Informatics (NCIBI). From 1998 to 2001, he was a researcher developing b at Washington University's Institute for Biomedical Computing (IBC). While at the WU IBC, he collaborated on developing transcription factor maps for the yeast and human genomes

James A. McNulty, CPA
Chief Financial Officer

James A. McNulty serves as our Secretary, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer. He also serves as Chief Financial Officer of The Hopkins Capital Group, an affiliation of limited liability companies which engage in venture activities. Mr. McNulty also serves as the Treasurer and Corporate Secretary of Accentia Biopharmaceuticals, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of late-stage “disruptive” clinical products, especially for already approved drugs in new formulations and/or new indications that are patent-protected and which represent new therapeutics with greater clinical and economic value. Mr. McNulty has performed accounting and consulting services as a Certified Public Accountant since 1975. He co-founded Pender McNulty & Newkirk, which became one of Florida's largest regional CPA firms, and was a founder/principal in two other CPA firms, McNulty & Company, and McNulty Garcia & Ortiz. He served as CFO of Star Scientific, Inc. from October 1998 to May 2000. From June 2000 through January 2002 he served as CFO/COO of American Prescription Providers, Inc. He is a principal in Pinnacle Group Holdings, a Tampa real estate development company. He is a published co-author (with Pat Summerall) of Business Golf, the Art of Building Relationships on the Links. Mr. McNulty is a graduate of University of South Florida, a licensed Certified Public Accountant, and is a member of the American and Florida Institutes of CPA's.

Francis O'Donnell, Jr., M.D., Chairman & Co-Founder

Dr. O'Donnell is the Founder and Managing Partner, Hopkins Capital Group, LLC, a biotech business development company, with over $100M of committed capital. Dr O'Donnell is a 1975 graduate of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He received his specialty training at the Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute, Johns Hopkins Hospital. At the age of 29, he was named Professor and Chairman, Dept. of Ophthalmology, St. Louis University School of Medicine. At 35, after founding an Eye Institute at the University, Dr. O'Donnell retired from academia, and founded the O'Donnell Eye Institute, St. Louis, Mo. In 1985, the principals of the Hopkins Capital Group began investing in biotech opportunities. Their organization and investment strategy is more fully explained at www.hopkinscap.com.

Dr. O'Donnell has published over 30 peer-reviewed scientific articles and he has been awarded 34 US Patents. He is the Jules Stein Vision Award recipient for 2000 from Retinitis Pigmentosa International. He is a Trustee for St. Louis University and for the Health Careers Foundation.
